Fossette Focacceria is Chef Mike Friedman’s love letter to Italian focaccia, baked fresh every day and stacked into sandwiches you plan your afternoon around. What started as a cozy cafe in Shaw has grown into two Washington DC spots, each with its own feel and the same golden, olive oil rich focaccia at the center of everything.

In Shaw, the original location is a quick, counter service cafe: focaccia sandwiches, Italian baked goods, and espresso made with Colectivo Coffee Roasters. It is the neighborhood spot for a fast, high quality lunch or an afternoon pick me up.

At Union Market, Fossette opens up into a cafe, mercato, and snack bar. Alongside the sandwiches you will find shelves of wine, olive oil, pasta, coffee beans, and packaged Italian goods to take home, plus a longer menu and later hours.

From the team behind Red Hen, All-Purpose, Aventino Cucina, and Boundary Stone, Fossette brings a taste of Italy to every bite. Come in for a sandwich, stay for the coffee, and take a little of the mercato home with you.
