About Fossette Focacceria

Fossette Focacceria is a Washington DC focacceria from Chef Mike Friedman, a 2025 RAMMYS Chef of the Year finalist and part of the All Purpose Hospitality group behind Red Hen, All-Purpose, Aventino Cucina, Boundary Stone, and AP Pizza Shop.

The Focaccia

Everything starts with the focaccia. Baked fresh every day, golden and rich with olive oil, it is the foundation for a menu of Italian sandwiches layered with cured meats, cheeses, and bright, seasonal touches. Add Italian baked goods, sweets, and coffee made with Colectivo Coffee Roasters, and you have a fast, high quality taste of Italy any time of day.

Shaw

The original Fossette opened in Shaw in 2024 as a cozy, counter service cafe. It quickly became a neighborhood favorite for a quick lunch, an afternoon espresso, and focaccia to go. Find it at 1250 9th St NW, open daily from 10am to 4pm.

Union Market

In early 2026, Fossette opened a second, larger location at Union Market. Part cafe, part mercato, part snack bar, it pairs the sandwiches you love with shelves of wine, olive oil, pasta, coffee, and packaged Italian goods to take home, plus a longer menu and later hours. Find it at 1309 5th St NE.
