We have two locations in Washington, DC: Shaw at 1250 9th Street NW (right next to our sister restaurant All-Purpose Pizza) and Union Market at 1309 5th Street NE.

Our Shaw cafe is open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Union Market is open Monday through Thursday 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, Friday 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, and Sunday 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Hours are subject to change.

Fossette is a cafe, mercato, and snack bar from the team behind All-Purpose Pizza, The Red Hen, Aventino Cucina, AP Pizza Shop and Boundary Stone. We bake focaccia in-house daily and build it into sandwiches, alongside Italian snacks, sweets, and goods to take home.

Focaccia sandwiches are the heart of the menu, plus Italian snacks, salads, and sweets. At our Shaw cafe, browse the lunch menu, coffee menu, and beverage menu. At Union Market, see the full menu.

No reservations needed, we’re a counter-service cafe and snack bar. Just walk in and order.

Yes! Both locations offer pickup and delivery. Order online through Toast for Shaw or Union Market.

Yes, catering is available from our Shaw location. Order delivery catering through ezCater or pickup catering through Toast. Our Union Market location is in the food hall and does not offer catering, but we’d be happy to cater your event from Shaw!

Fossette comes from Chef Mike Friedman, the James Beard Award semifinalist behind The Red Hen, All-Purpose Pizza, Aventino Cucina, and AP Pizza Shop. Fossette opened in Shaw in November 2024 and at Union Market in 2026.

Yes, we’re part of the same restaurant family, and our Shaw cafe is right next door to All- Purpose on 9th Street NW. The focaccia sandwiches at AP Pizza Shop in Bethesda are a collaboration with us.

Our mercato shelves carry Italian pantry goods, snacks, and sweets to take home.

Yes, we pull espresso with beans from Colectivo Coffee Roasters, perfect alongside a morning slice of focaccia. Almond milk and oat milk are available on any of our milk drinks. See our coffee menu for the full lineup.

Yes, we are a small space but do have some indoor and outdoor seating. Many of our guests do take our sandwiches to go.

We’re on 9th Street NW next to All Purpose Pizza. The Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metro station (Green/Yellow lines) is about a 5 minute walk, and there is metered street parking nearby.

Union Market is at 1309 5th Street NE, about a 10 minute walk from the NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro station (Red line). Union Market also has a parking lot and street parking.

Yes, several sandwiches and snacks are vegetarian, and we can point you to vegan-friendly options at the counter. Almond milk and oat milk are available for coffee. Just ask when you order.

Of course! Fossette is casual and family-friendly, and focaccia is very kid-approved.

Absolutely! Well behaved dogs are welcome inside with their owners while picking up sandwiches, coffee, or other to go orders. If you’re planning to dine with your pet, we kindly ask that you enjoy one of our outdoor tables so everyone can have a comfortable experience. Service dogs are always welcome inside

Yes. The entrance, cafe, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

For office lunches, parties, and events, catering from our Shaw location is the way to go. Order delivery catering through ezCater or pickup catering through Toast. Give us 24 hours notice for big orders and we’ll take care of you.
